All of our puppies are checked by our veterinarian, and come with up-to-date vaccinations. We raise our dogs in a family ranch setting, and so they are socialized by folks of all ages. Pricing is for limited registration, but full registration is available upon request, and for an additional fee. Guarantee applies to the original purchaser only.
Buyer agrees-
To have the puppy examined within 72 hours of purchase by a licensed veterinarian of their choosing, to validate this guarantee. This should also include a fecal exam. Please retain records of vet visits for evidence.
Puppies are sold with their initial set of shots and dewormers. Buyer understands that follow up shots/worm treatments are necessary for the puppy to be considered fully vaccinated.
Buyer understands that typical puppyhood illnesses and conditions, such as internal parasites (Roundworms, hookworms, heart worms, etc) Parvo, Kennel Cough and the like are easily contracted, and not the responsibility of the seller, if diagnosed after the 72 hour period.
Buyer understands that all future expenses, medical care and treatment, training and maintenance are the responsibility of the buyer.
Buyer understands that action is required on their part for the puppy to be properly registered with the AKC. We have already registered the litter, but you must transfer the individual dog into your own name. We will provide all necessary paperwork. Buyer agrees to comply with the stipulations concerning limited or full registration, as decided at the time of purchase.
Buyer agrees to provide annual exams, continue all required shots, and provide proper vet care. Failure to comply and provide documentation of such nullifies any guarantees.
Buyer agrees to provides adequate housing and nutrition, as well as supplements. We find the puppies do well with Science Diet, or other high protein, low-grain kibble. We also supplement with fresh raw meat. We do not make a particular feed brand a condition of the guarantee, but find that high-quality feed makes a significant difference in the long-term health, and coat and bone condition of the dog.
Buyer understands that shepherds bone and muscle structure are not fully formed until 18-24 months of age. Having your puppy spayed or neutered before 24 months of age deprives them of essential hormones that directly effect their development, and increases their risk of bone and muscle related diseases later in life. Neutering or spaying before 24 months of age nullifies guarantee.
Buyer understands that due to the developing nature of a shepherds joints, bones, muscle etc, experts recommend that they be prevented from climbing stairs, jumping on or off of beds, couches etc, or jumping out of cars, for their first year. Any high- impact activity can permanently weaken joints, including hips and elbows.
Buyer understands that certain environmental factors, such as over feeding, inadequate nutrition (including low-protein kibble) roughhouse play- including with children, falling down stairs, being pulled on a leash or dropped, being trained to stand on their hind legs, etc, is detrimental to development, and a direct contributor to conditions such as hip dysplasia. Studies show that 80% of hip dysplasia cases are from environmental, rather than genetic, causes.
Regular mild exercise is crucial to proper development, excessive wildness is not healthy, either for physical development or temperament.
Buyer understands that certain extreme training methods, as well as agility training, can increase the risk, and accelerate the development of muscle and bone related conditions, including, but not limited to, hip dysplasia.
Buyer recognizes that breeding previous to two years of age is detrimental to the health of the dam, and can adversely affect the development of the puppies.
Buyer understands that the cartilage in a German Shepherds ears is not fully hardened for a full year, thus any trauma, tumbling or roughhousing, can result in a permanent break in the cartlidge, resulting in a “floppy ear “. Chewing on toys, dried meats, etc helps strengthen cartilage, enabling the ears to stand sooner, and stay firm.
Buyer agrees that puppy is not being purchased for resale, and will never be sold to a pet shop, puppy mill, or agent of the same.
Buyer agrees to groom, train and care for this puppy, in a manner consistent with the expectations of the AKC. Buyer also understands that German Shepherds are by nature reactive and protective dogs, and left untrained and/or unsocialized they can be a potential risk to owners, strangers, and unknown animals.
Seller agrees-
The sire and dam of this litter have been regularly checked by our veterinarian, kept up to date on vaccinations, and monitored for any health concerns, heart defects, etc. All of our breeding stock were selected with care towards their pedigree, and come from sound genetic and champion backgrounds.
Every effort has been made to make to ensure that puppies are delivered in healthy and sound condition. This puppy has been checked by our vet, and cleared as healthy in every respect. Puppies are sold with up-to-date vaccinations, and wormers if needed. Any known fault or previous illness will be disclosed. Puppies will come with a copy of their health records.
Breeder guarantees against preventable diseases for 72 hours (3 days) after leaving our care.
In the event of a communicable illness, or evidence of hereditary flaw, within that 72 hour period, the buyer is required to take the puppy to licensed veterinarian, or this guarantee is null and void. If the puppy is determined to be in poor health, as evidenced by a veterinarian report, the buyer has two options. A) Keeping the puppy and assuming all responsibility and cost for its care, or B) Returning the puppy along with its registration papers for a replacement puppy, when a puppy of like color, temperament of equal or lesser value is available. All cost involved in the return of the puppy are the responsibility of the buyer. No cash refunds are given. We reserve the right to a second opinion by our own veterinarian.
Although it is impossible to predict future occurrences of hip dysplasia, all of our breeding stock come from clear bloodlines. If a puppy shows sign of developing hip and joint issues within one year of purchase, and buyer has documented paperwork from two separate licensed veterinarians, Seller agrees to A) replace the affected puppy with a different puppy, of equal or lesser value, once a puppy is available, or B) Refund payment equal to half the sales price, excluding deposit ($500). In either instance the cost and responsibility for treatment of the affected puppy remains the buyers. If a replacement puppy is given, we require evidence that the original and effected puppy has been spayed or neutered. Again, we reserve the right to a second opinion from our own veterinarian.
Breeder is in no way responsible for vet care or bills after leaving the possession of Rocking Diamond. Any sickness not related to genetics is the buyers responsibility.
Breeder is not responsible for death or injury of puppies due to negligence on behalf of the buyer, any airline or live animal courier, their agents or employees.
No guarantee is made about adult size, coloring, confirmation or championships. Puppies colors continue to shift for several months. Pictures of the sire and dam will be provided upon request.
We make no guarantees on whether or not both ears stand over time. There are many environmental factors, including roughhousing, vigorous play, and improper nutrition, that effect strength and soundness of ear cartilage.
Puppies are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Breeder reserves the right to retain the pick of any litter for future breeding purposes. Buyer may request pick of specified litters for breeding purposes, for an additional fee.
We make every effort to match discernible temperament with buyers stated situations, but German Shepherds are a highly reactive breed, and proper training and socialization are crucial. Breeder is not responsible for incidents arising from improper handling, environmental stresses, or failure to train or socialize.
Deposits – Rocking Diamond accepts non-refundable deposits ($500) for future puppies. If the litter in question does not produce the hoped for puppy, either color or gender, the deposit can be transferred to a future litter.
Rehoming- In the event that you are no longer able to keep or maintain your puppy due to changes in your circumstances, we ask that you give us an opportunity to assist in rehoming, especially before turning them over to a shelter. We put a lot of care into our dogs, and we want to see them reach their full potential.
